It’s a very good year for acorns, and so squirrels and
chipmunks are rustling around everywhere in the leaves.
Sometimes you hear about bears in these woods, but
you usually won’t be lucky enough to spot such large
wildlife. Instead you have the sound of local birds, a
chickadee scolding you just for walking underneath her
pine tree, and the rush of the various streams, louder
after a rain, with the roots wet and slippery as they
snake across the path.
