bur further gain was stopped, and R. 11. J:\. rccci;eu the ba11 on a short punt. The quarter ended with the pig'Skin still in their possession. At the beginning of the second quarter R. :nr. A. rushed the ball to onr four-yard line, but there we held them for downs; and punted out of danger. By means
of forward passes our opponents again came to our two-yard line, bnt once more, under the shadow of our goal posts, \Ve held them for downs, aud, after a wide end run, punted to safety. The half ended with the score still 0 to 0. In this quarter and in the first part of the third we were entirely on
the defensive, and had to resist every iltch o£ ground to keep our opponents from scoring, for once more, at the outset of the third quarter, R. lL A., by means of a long forward pass, a series of line plunges, and end run, placed the ball eighteen inches from our goal line with first down. Then for the third time we resisted R. J\L A.'s tandems, and re-
ceived the ball after her fourth unsuccessful attem1~t to cross tho line. Smith theu punted back forty yards, and from this time on the tide of fortune changed, for a few minutes later W. F . Johnson intercepted one of R. :n1. A.'s forward passes, and ran thirty yanls before he was rlownerl. A line plunge, a forward pass to ITinks, and an end run hy Smith netted
the only touchdown of the game. Charles thE>u kic-ked goal from a difficult angle. The quarter Cllded two minutes later. No scoring was done in the final quarter. Howe\·er, after several exchanges of pnnts, \Ve once more had the hall in R. M. A.'s territory, but an attempted drop ki<.:k was blocked,
and the game ended with the score: V. E. S., 7 ; R. M. A., 0.
The entire team played a ste11nr game, and the work of each individual is worthy of mention, but, in pa1·ticnlar, that of Smith, Rinks, and 1IacB1ain, "hile Valentine and Urbanski did well for Randolph-1facon.
