''Justly to discriminate, wisely to prescribe, nnd honestly
to reward-these ::Ire the true aims and duties of criticism." -Selected.
We have sent out a large number of exchanges, but as yet have received no response, owing, perhaps, to the delay caused by the "flu."
We hope that we may see ourselves as others see us, and to this end will endeav-or to p1·ofit r..nd leam, not only by the criticisms of others, but by theil- mistakes as well. Our exchanges, heretofore, have been \'Cry satisfactory, and we will '"<:'1come back many old friends, aud anticipate ma.king the acquaintance of others. There is no department that is more 'Valuable than exchanges, ns it is only by comparison 've can ga.in merit. Then, too, we like to show our interest in other magazines, that, by working together and poinling out ea<>h other's merits and demerits, we both may attain a cert.'lin degree o£ excellence. We a.ppend a list of those whom we have requested to exchange with us, and bopo that by the next number they will contribute to this department.
