The pn::r baseball season was ind"eed the most successful c\·er enjo:·ed by an athletic team reprc.scnting this school. Eight Yictories out of t\\·elve starts. is a record of wl1ich we might well ue proud, especially when considering the caliber of our opponents. The team was rather slow getting into shape, and in the first half of the season frequent erring \Yas a characteristic 9f its play; but of the last se\·en games, six were Yictories, two of them shut-outs, and in three of them only one error a game \\·as made, v.·Mle one was errorless. The team batted .23'1 for the season against .208 for its opponents, and scored G2 runs to t~ tatters' 44:.
.At a meeting of the lerter men, Smith was elected to lead the team next year. H e pla.,·ed sec'()l)(T l)a~e, left field, and pitc-hed. \\hile in the l•ox he won all four of his starts, allc,,\·ing his opponents bnt three runs in all and slmtting them om twice. Tie batted .~05 and accepted 28 chances with but .2 errors. \\'e wish him success for 11ext year.
