Billy Jones had been in swimming on the Coast of Point Pleasant, New Jersoy. He had cut his foot on a shell and had come out on the beach, where he was sitting down. All of a sudden he saw a tin can floating in the water about ten
yards from the.shore. He regarded it curiously because it seemed to have some strange attraction for him. Tie got up and swam out to it. Having procured it, he returned to the beach. The can was closed at the top. Tie opened it with a knife and drew out some papers. The water had leaked in through a small hole and ruined most of the papers. It was
e\·ident that ono of these had been a map while the other one was so badly ruined you couldn't distinguish what it was.
He looked at the map again. On tho bottom he could barely recognize what appeared to be, "Southea~t of No- where."
Billy jumped up and flew into the house. He showed it to his mother.
".My goodness, Billy, that is only a joke some·traveler is playing. Leavo it alone."
Soon Billy went out on the beach again. Ho sat down and tried to think of a suitable explanation for this note. He could not.
All of a sudden he felt strong arms seizing him and carry- ing him away. He couldn't see any one there; so naturally he was very much alarmed. He traveled faster and faster faster and faster. Soon he came in front of a large fire. H ; tried to get away from it but he could not. :Much to his sur-
prise it did not burn him. He was carried to the middle of it and set down.
