Cl:Hke aud Young, two yonng men, bought a Ford to- gether. The combination worked very well for some time, until Young 1·ead an advertisement of a carburetor guaran- teed to save from 20 to 30 pet· cent of the gas. lie bought one and l1ad it installed.
During the same week Clarke saw an advertisement of a cut-out that would save at least 20 per cent on the gas bill. He got one and had it put on the car. Clarke also bought a special sptn·k plug that saved 25 per cent of gas costs.
While the car was in the garage having these accessories added, a snow storm developed. This tied up traffic for some time and the car was not used.
During the next few weeks Young bought a now radiator for tho Ford. This radiator cooled the engine quicker and saved 30 per cent of t,h,e gas. A new ignition system was de- vised at this time. This system fed the gas automatically, saving as much as 40 per cent on gasoline expenses.
Some weeks later the snow was cleared away and traffic 1·esumed its usual pace. Young and Clarke decided to run the car out and see how it. ran. Defore starting they looked at the gas and found that they had about six or six and a hal£ gallons. They started out on Long I sland for a test run.
They ran and ran :for about sixty or seventy miles with no apparent hitch, when a motorist passed them and as he went by, he yelled to them that tho radiator was leaking. Getting out, they found nothing wrong, but Young suggested a look at the gas. When they took off the front cushion they found -the tank nmning over and leaking gas out the top!
