School opened this year on the 19th of September, with 80 old boys and 59 new ones. The old boys were glad to get back and see their friends of last year, and the new boys were very shy-for a while.
We were all much surprised and delighted to find that the long looked for ten.nis courts were at last completed, and that some very delightful new rooms bad been built in the gym- nasium. In addition, some large storm-doors bad been built on the outside doors of the main buildings. This is a very
great convenience and will add security in the cold winter. Regular lessons started on Tuesday and the school was
soon in full swing.
It gave us much pleasure when we arrived to see that :Mr.
and :Mrs. Dawson were comfortably settled in the school,
after their honeymoon in the summer, and to find that a Mrs.
Banks was also with us.
Mr. J. W. Gannaway, our new Math. teache~, had pre-
ceded us in the school and every one declared that he was "almost" as nice as Mr. Tuck. Somewhat later we were pleased to welcome Mr. Ladd, who gives the work in Relig- ious Instruction. He has also instituted a series of readings on. Saturday and Sunday evenings, which are proving most
popular.
