On :May 26 long, lank~', lefty Yowell went into tho box against us at Woodberry Forest and he southpnwed his way so brilliantly that only on one occasion did we even come ncar scoring, this one golden opportunity coming in the sixth frame when Humphries was tagged out at home after poling a loug smash over Long's head·in right field. Consequently Wood- berry beat us, and we recei,·cd our first scm·eless defeat of the entire season. Yowell was too good for us, and the fact that ho fanned nineteen of our batsmen sums up the story of our defeat in an excellent way._
