SEASON IS FAIRLY GOOD
Two Records Broken ; New Mile and High Jump Marks Set by Miles and Booth
The V. E. S. cindermen finished their season in good fashion ·by plac- ing third at the Southern Inter- scholastic Meet at Chapel Hill with
a total of twenty-four points. It was again a case of Coach Johnston, aid- ed by Mr. Harmeling, making a good track team out of only a1·era_ge ma- teriaL This was made possible by the splendid spirit shoii'JJ hy the en- tire track squad in their faithful training.
Come Out Even in Regular Meets
In the first meet of the eason, the track team won a three-cornered tilt from Hargrave and Randolph-Macon
Military Academies by a 52 1-3, -±6 2-3, 18 score. Then the powerful Staunton Cadets defeated V . E. S. here by the score of 91 1-3, 25 2-3. A week later in a ·contest at Orange, Woodberry Forest won, 8-±-32. After this the team overwhelmed Lynch- burg High in a practice meet, and a meet with St. Christopher's was can-

the rectorship of the new Grace, Memorial Church.
Larger Board for the Future I
In the words of the Lynchburg News:
"Dr. P endleton's report show- ed that the immediate needs of the school were an improved heating
plant, a dining room, and an en- larged or new auditorium. The recommendations of t h e present school committee suggested that im- provements be made from probable donations but that the tuition fees
be made to cover current expenses, depreciation and reasonable repairs, It also recommended that the man- agement be invested in a board of
directors to hal'e not less than nine ANDELECTSOFFICERSmembers nor more than twenty-one members. Ownership to be invested in a board of trustees to have nine members. These trustees will be first chosen by the diocese and in- clude alumni, three of the trustees to be named for a one-year term; three for two, and three for three years. Each succeeding year three new trustees will be elected for a.
three-year term."
