John Tucker Percy, '27, and Mer-
rill Whitney, '29, are out for Fresh- man Track at the University of Vir- ginia. They placed second and
third, respectively, in the mile run in the meet against the V. M. I.
Freshman.
Haywood Weeks, '28, who is a
student at the University of Nortlt Carolina, visited the school last week-end. Weeks is on the Sopho- more dance committee at Carolina
and is also secretary-elect of the Junior class.
Churchill Dunn, '25, visited the
school from, the University of Vir-
ginia a week ago.
Claibourne Darden, '29, and Fred Cook, '29, are out for Freshman track at Washington and Lee Uni- versity. Darden won the mile run, and Cook took first place in the high jump in the recent W. & L. Frosh vs. S. M. A. meet.
Duval Goldsmith, '27, broke the Freshman track records for the pole vault and the shot put at the Mich- igan State. While here Goldy threw the shot 45 feet 8 inches and vaulted 11 feet 9 inches. Both of these
still stand as school records.
John Peacock, '29, is catching for the University of North Carolina
Freshmen. He led his team against Darlington with four hits out of four trips to the plate. While here Peacock played third base and last
year batted .500.
George Payne, '26, visited the
school last week. He is now in the oil business in Roanoke, V a.
Jim Hubbard, '29, is in the finals of the intra-mural boxing tourna- ment at the University of North
Carolina. He boxes in the 175-pound class.
Lawrence London, '27, made the honor roll for the second quarter at the University of North Carolina.
Ashby Patteson, '29, visited the school last week-end. He is a cadet at the Virginia Military Institute.
Milton Barber, '29, is out for Freshman baseball at the University of North Carolina. While here
"Sot" played shortstop.
Ra11dolph "Brawn" Turner, '28,
made his letter on the varsity wrest- ling team at Virginia Military In- stitute.
John IIeald, '28, placed a second in the 120-yard high hurdles for Virginia Military Institute in the
recent meet with North Carolina State. While here Heald took a fourth place in the Virginia Prep meet and second place in the South-
