R. M. A. UPSETS THE DOPE AND DEFEATS V. E. S. 13-0
Cadets Outplay Garnetmen for Whole Game as Bishops Fail to Function
The V. E. S. eleven suffered its second defeat of the season at the hands of th e strong Randolph- Macon eleven on November 14th at Bedford, 13-0. This defeat came as
a surprise to the Garnet followers. It was the first game that V. E. S. has lost to the Cadets since 1920 when the score was 22 to 0. The Garnets showed signs of a decided slump from their earlier season form.
V. E. S. Kicks
The game started with McNulty
kicking off for V. E. S. The kick was low, but rolled along the ground fo r 31 yards down to Fullback Tucker of the soldiers, who re- turned it about five yards. A fter two tries at the line and a pass, Tucker kicked a high punt to Ed- munds, who ran the ball up the field ten yards. Hanff, V. E. S. half, got 2 yards off guard, LaLance, one half at the other guard, and the next play LaLance kicked a quick, high punt, which was downed by the V. E. S. end 30 yards down the field. R. M. A. now began a march down the field which resulted in three successive first downs and the only score of the first half. Grattan plunged through guard for two yards., Raredin, R. M. A. quar- terback, was held for a half yard at the same guard, and it seemed as though the Cadets would be forced to kick, but on the next play Tucker carried the pigskin around end for 20 yards and a first down. Raredin, Grattan, Lawson, and Tucker amassed the required yardage for the next first down, taking tne ball to the Garnet 15 yard line. Another first clown placing the ball on the one-yard line, and then Raredin lugged it over for the score. Jones, lett tackle for the Cadets, kicked off to Smither, R., V. E. S. quarter- back, who returned the ball 10 yards. V. E. S. failed to gain, and LaLance booted a beautitul punt,

est the Stadiumites came to scoring. The second tally for V. E. S. came toward the end of the fray when Ashton took the ball on a reverse and ripped off 35 yards after Hardy
·and Wiley had made his way clear through the line of scrimmage. Ashton exhibited a marvelous talent
for broken field running, shaking off tackler after tackler. He again took the ball from short position 1 and bucked it over for a touchdown. l
