Throughout the weekend each of
the "goats," Waller, Walter and Hammett from track; Betty, Mat- thews, Long, Chergey, and Perkins, C., from baseball, were put through an improvised "Hell." However, the stunts and recitations put on in the dining hall had more ill effects on Chergey and \Valier than did the physical torture, while Betty and Long seemed completely at ease with their North Carolina dialect and songs.
Sunday night the "goats" were driven to the gym by their masters, who were armed to the teeth with coat-hangers and baseball bats, which had been remodeled for the occasion. Here in the gym the offi- cial initiation took place, which is very secretive.
On Monday morning the initiates were unanimously voted into the V Club. The initiation on the whole went off as usual with a fine show of physical endurance shown by each of the eight neophytes.

Meteorites
With finals looming close at hand, the social butterflies of V. E. S. have hurst out of their cocoons and have done some fancy fluttering, tele- phoning, letter writing, and using several other ways of securing the attention of the opposite sex in preparation for the coming shindig.
Edgar Betty, the boy with the transparent eyelids, is all set to bring "Pokey" to the big frolic. We strongly suspect that AI, who wa~ts two girls at finals, had somethmg to do with this.
Carter R. Claggett, alias "Ham- merhead," alias "Bullet," alias sev- eral other unprintables, has gotten himself mixed up with the women. A blithe little beauty named "Jean- ettc" has been seen waiting for him just beyond the bridge lately. Now, how on earth did that start? When asked about this "Hammerhead" only blushes.
"Bax." the "220 Kid," and "Cap'n Bob" Arthur have been silently car- rying on numerous affairs.. It loo~s as if Arthur has won Suz1e, wh1le "Bax" has been doing all right with one. Rosalie Stuart.
V. E. S. boys will soon leave the Lynchburg lassies and head for home and old flames. We all hope you do as well at home as you have here in Lynchburg, but we also hope you keep your records clean. No use getting run out of your home town.
