I never sow such o distinguished ~~rroy of flog ond generol officers. ond the ship wos looded to the gunwoles.
After oil the guests were in their proper oloces the Joponese delegotes orrived, looking sod but rother sloicol. The cere- mony went off without incident, ond you hove probobly seen the pictures of it by now.
Thot ofternoon we went oshore ogain with two of our Stoff Officers, who hod lived in Jopon for mony yeors ond who spoke the longuoge perfectly, to visit the rurol districts. We hod o grond tour, see- ing en route the greot Buddho imoge ol Komokuro. We olso visited the temple of the Joponese God of Wor, Hochimon. Well, when we finoily got to Sorrenl. our secondary destinotion and our port o emberketion to Copri, we received som very disappointing news .. , Yep, no boa' went to Copri on Sundoy; so this left u. stranded in the quoin! and smelly lilt ltolion town of Sorrento. Realizing thai we would hove to spend the night her• if we wonted to get to Capri the firr thing in the morning, we took one of t~ Dogo kids up on his "Wanta' room, Joe? greeting. He took us to o rother nic piece. Here he odded onother four buc~ to his olreody bulging roll. (These lilt' kids often carry o roll amounting to fiv< hundred to o thousand dollors, which the moke by rounding up trade for prostitute and by their vorious bled morket octiv ties).
