METEORITES
Through the Telescope '•
By the Old Astrologer
In spring a young man's fancy turns to thoughts of "Goober," but we, the Astrologers, know that spring leads boys into other things, too.
In recent bull sessions there has been much talk about the proposed good-will tour to Mexico by our V. E. S. ambassadors, Rianhard, Gower, and Stieglitz.
Hansen, gentleman of leisure, re- cently astounded the school by low- ering himself to going out for the "brisk-ball" team and stopping smok- ing at the same time.
The underground at V. E. S. is ex- panding. It now spreads propaganda with a radio that "Sparks" Gilman set up. Barge ;-lso sings for his ad-

The Astronomical Calendar
Feb. 3-After a hard night, most
of the boys around school are going around with a half-dazed expression on their faces, and wishing that they could go to bed and sleep for a week. (This is the day after midwinters).
Also Feb. 3-Basketball boys go back on pledge, after having pulled a carton of cigarettes each.
Feb. 4--Same basketball boys are seen exhaling pure nicotine at prac- tice, forcing the G.A.A. to have the gym fumigated before any further practice could be carried on.
Feb. 6-A state of war now exists between Sweet Briar and "Stigleto." The Telephone Company discontinues operations on the line from Lynch- burg to Amherst, said line being tat- tered and torn from the "derogatory remarks" that passed over them.
Feb. 6-14--Ah! Such a lively time of year! In fact since it's so lively, and full of stories, I'm qoing to re- frain from writing any of them.
Feb. 19-V .E.S. seems to be a regular hospital for mumps, measles, p neumonia, and pink-eye. The style seems to be, when getting up in the morning, to loudly yell, " I've got 'em," and every boy within a radius of two miles scatters, not caring what you've "got."
Feb. 21-A strange aura of smoke hangs over the school, candy wrap- pers are laying everywhere and soft drinks are sold by the thousands,-

2 - A week of ath- letic inactivity, in which certain in- d ividuals develop huge bay-windows
from candy and carbonated water.
"Big Bad Bev" has divulged the secret of his super-human strength. He modestly told us that he had the muscles of a twenty-year-old man.
" B. 0 . Armslob" hasn't had that frustrated look lately. He says that he has given up women and settled down to hard work.
The V. E. S. dog lovers are really setting on the ball. We haven't won any shows yet, but great things are expected from the First West Ken- ne's.
"Slop-Head" really got the fuzzy one from Bourke the other night, be- ing left with a big bill and no babe.
Tom has announced his intentions of being the fourth one on Miss Oglesby's list.

Mar.
(Wait a minute, Lynn, that's my shoe you're shoveling out with that snow). - But- As I was saying-In the spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love and base- ball. (What?? You say there's a sport called track? Hummph!! Never heard of it!!)-The original goldbrick himself, none other than "64-Carat" Trevathan shows up for the first prac- tice. Many are seen later, nursing sore arms, after having tossed around the briskball for a while.
