Editor, "The Meteor," V. E. S., City.
DMr Sir:
In your lost issue I observed a certoin ltolianesque tendency in orthography which, if allowed to lie uncorrected, might lead to international jealousy and some consequent oct of retaliation. I am referring to the word used to denote a "five-cent theater," which appeared in your columns as "nicco- lodian." May we not have in the future the dictionary spelling, "nickelodeon," thus pre- serving the meaning of the word? After all, in this day of rising prices, a five-cent piece still procures the playing of one record.
Captious Critic. Lynchburg, Yo.
In shame-facedly admitting to the error brought to our attention by the above anonymous critic, we feel obliged to ac- knowledge two other errors in the November issue. Even a non-captious critic might notice our murdering of the Latin derivation in the spelling "obscence," thus robbing the word of all connection with its good root "o bsum." Along another line, the nome "Jim York" in the Alumni column should have been "Jim W ork." Ed.*
