Record catch of sailfish at Acapulco, Mex., last week by Dr. W. Warren Koontz and his son, W. Warren Koontz, Jr., who with Mrs. Koontz, also lucky
in catching a 67 pound tuna, have been spending the Christmas holidays there. The largest sailfish was caught by W. Warren Koontz, Jr., and was 9 feet, 5 inches long and weighed 117 pounds. This was the record fish for the season and took an hour and 17 minutes to land. It hangs next to him in the picture.
These were a first day's catch.
Dr. and Mrs. Koontz and their son, who left Lynchburg December 15 by plane for Acapulco, have been in Mexico City and Guatemala and are going to Yucatan. They plan to return to this country January 13 after a few days' stay in Havana.
