The Guru~ (See Cover)
The obscure Arabian who unknow- 'ngly perfected a present form of torture-trigonometry-stirred in his grove for joy in 1921 as his disciple. John Wallace Gannaway, came to V. E. S. to teach trig. ond other forms of math.
The kindly spi rit of that Arabian had seen him safely through Battle ground Academy and thence into Tennessee State Teachers College ond the University of Tennessee, two years respectively. From the latter he graduated with his B. S. degree, ond in two more years, with his M. A. de-
gree.
For his first two years ot V. E. S..
1921-23, he presided over the third floor of the recently built West Dorm- 'tory. But with his M. A. degree and his marriage to Miss Edith Crowell of Knoxville (two years afterwards) he left Sacred Third for the infirmary building where Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt now live. Two more years found him in his present home. They now have two daughters, Edith and Mary Jone, who do their little (?) part to cheer the boys up.
Mr. Gannaway is almost synony- mous with V. E. S. He teaches moth, rules the G. A. A. with an iron hond, heads the V-Club, and looks after the school store. His latest project has been a complete review of the alumni records.
