It seems that V. E. S. is not alone in a building program which includes an expansion of its present kitchen
facilities. The South Kent School a t South Kent, Conn. reports that it's new kitchen and pantry will be com- pleted by Christmas. We plan to begin on our biulding program as soon as detailed plans are completed.
The Meteor wishes to congratulate the Jackson Journal for the high honor bestowed upon them by the Quill and Scroll society as one of the "Ten Papers of Distinction."
The Meteor also wishes to extend its congratulations to Texas Military Institute for its War Department rat- ing as an honor military school.
We are proud to report that The Meteor has received exchanges from six different states, ranging from Rhode Island to Texas. It is our hope to increase this record as time goes
on. 1 It won't be long now until the first
snow will come, and that means "Rat Week." This is what The Woodberry Oracle has to say on the subject. "You may ask 'why have any distinc- tion at all'?" To this we say that the lack of a new-boy system cheats the boys out of an experience that they can only get at a prep school. Rat Runs, races, and other new boy "punishments " are among the most

Tempo Talks
by Chorles Northrup
This month there's a lot to talk
about in the music world.
First, let me tell you about a real
collector's item in new record albums. It is the new M-G-M release featur- ing Gene Kelly. Of course, only the older set will reolize the worth of this great collection of old songs of musical show business. Not belong- ing to that distinguished group my-
self, I don't suppose I could really appreciate it, but believe me, there's lots of rhythm ond melody in those old timers. " Moonlight Bay ," " Ida, " and "Let Yourself Go" are just samples of the entertainment per- petuated for you in this fine collec- tion.
In the classics, Victor has made a commendable contribution with the Brahms Requ iem Op. 45. Few other works are as rich in choral and sym- phonic beauty as this one. Robert Shaw does the conducting.
The Fine Arts Series of Randolph- Macon Womon 's College has it usual- ly good schedule t his season. The Bar- ter Players will come forth with "Hamlet" on December 7th. The Na- t iona l Symphony Orchestra will be here on March 5th. Judging from their last year's performance, they
should draw quite a crowd.
Severo! Sundoys ago, Homecom-
ing to be exact, in the Longhorn Memorial Chapel one Phillip Brax- ton surprised the congregation with a solo for the offertory anthem. I think he should be congrotulated for his
fine voice ond especially his courage to stand up and sing before well over a hundred people.

We noticed that Dewey won a recent mock election at Randolph- Macon Academy. In a mock cam- paign here at V. E. S., there was a tie between Dewey and Thurmond. It all only qoes to prove that the peo- ple decide an election.
