Well, it's all over but the shouting. The valedictory address and the Senior prophesy have been read and delivered. Dr. Barton has announced the winners of the various awards . .. they are mentioned elsewhere in the Meteor; the Honor Committee has been called and its members have been vested with their respective cloaks of duty. Next year, the Honor Committee will be John Thomas of Si:ver City, North Carolina, Head Counselor; Leonard Muse of Roanoke, Virginia and Thomas Creasy of Gretna, Virginia. The student body and the faculty agree that this is an excellent group.
And then, with this last, little issue, this years Meteor Staff takes its bow. It's time for the old order to take leave of the typewriters and pads, and make room for fresher talent. A few weeks ago, this year's crew met and elected Albert Shortt of Winston-Salem, North Caro- lina, as the new Editor-in-Chief and John Heyward of Rion, South Carolina, as Business Manager. Both are, in our opinion, the best men for the job.
AI has been on the business staff for three years and was this present year's Business Manager. He has also contributed to the writing and proof-reading end of the paper at various times. And, as a sidelight for the boys of the Old North State, he ends a drought of Carolina- bred editors which has lasted for four years, the last being Don Van Noppen back in 1945-46.
Johnny Heyward, too, has seen considerable action at his newly appointed post already. With a little coach- ing, he's bound to turn in a fine performance in the years he has to go at V. E. S.
The other major officers diC to be picked from the staff at an early meeting next Fall.
And so it's done with. This is the last of a too-long • series of Meteor articles of the year 1949-50. To retir-
ing members, and especially the now ex-editor, wish the
new faces all the good luck that can possibly be squeezed
