EDITORIAL BOARD
As the year '50-51 draws to an end, it is only natural that we all look back over the months here at old V.E.S. What do we see? Many of us see happy times, hard work; yet a feeling of a job well done. However, I m afraid there are others who see only the demerit track, re- port period, and imp. classes. Does it have to be this, we ask ourselves? That's a question you will have to ask yourself though I am going to try and help you answer it.
The old saying, or rather proverb Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today is the key to most of our troubles. We have our
algebra to do or maybe a theme to write yet that can wait till tomorrow and so we decide to set out for a little adventure which usually re:;u/ts in a number of demerits. The week- end comes and we are on bounds, that means report period, demerit track, we say "0 what s the use" and then give up. I'm sure you al- ready see the other side. If we had done our work when we should have we would have received a bette• grade and an enjoyable weekend.
There's a time for work and a time for play. Don't get them mixed up for once you do, you have to pay for it.
For many of us our record hasn t been too good this year. But re- member the year is not quite over. We still have time to show ourselves, our masters and our folks we can do it. And we can. Make up your mind
...o get down to work, and watch the results.
"Thank You Mr. Lamar"
The boys of the school wish to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Lamar ~or the beautiful bed of tulips, which he presented to the school last winter and which are blooming between the main building and the gym this very minute. They add a warmth to the school, which nothing else could do. We also want to thank him for the strong and sturdy benches, which he placed on the baseball field and which have already proved their usefulness. These a d d two more great gifts to the innumerable list of gifts and favors he has given to the boys and the school. 'Thank you! Thank you, Mr. Lamar!"
