what we can't, even in jest, call the face of his right-hand man (?),the first knight in all the land, Geek. Sir Geek is seated at Doc's feet, indu-;triously licking his shoes. The Doc calms him- self, aims his faiihful old demerit pad, Betsy, at ·:he areno ond gives ·~e or- der for the qames to start. These qames are of the type that uphold American tradition-baseball and the like. Only once in a while does Doc's continenta l influence sneak in and they play a goode olde rousing game of soccer. He says he's going to try
them out at cricket soon.
But whaiever the game, they always
exhibit wholesome competition and qood sportsmanship. (It is rumored that Doc shows the WINNING TEAM
WHERE HE HIDES HIS FRENCH W INES.)
He overhears the conspicious warn- ings of the bMbers in Lynchburg as they whisper "It's the one they call 'Red' (on the head) you have to watch out for, boys. Remember to wear your filter lenses when 'Red' comes to shed."
The Ole Astrologer hears a shriek of a wild bull elephant on the ram- page-no, it's only Andy protecting his charge as his back seat is invaded by three "Buggers," "Eyes" Smith, "Bud" McGregor and Boyer. As he shifts his lens back to the campus he misses the smiling faces and happy countenances that once dwelled here. Has "Barbells" croaked? No, it's only the Monday after Homecoming.
The O!e Astrologer hears the his- sing rumble of salt water. Is the tide coming in? No, it's only Jo Jo recit- ing Macbeth to his admiring class. Mock and " Mouthey" bring towels. He sees "Wimpy" proudly sporting a lipstick stained collar, three days after Homecoming with some of Snake's "Wimmin." Weepy is noticed shedding crocodile tears as his I30's lose their first game of the season to the "pink skins" of Bedford. Then the O!e Astrologer sees he is overdue, so he snatches a sky-hook for the beck- oning blue.
Oct. 10-"Charlie" Kellogg's heart leaps for joy as he gets a letter from his country girl, Audry.

for the
Ole Astrologer
Following several nights in Saturn_'s casino the Ole Astrologer once aga1n through blood-shot eyes observes the campus. The shouts of footwork and fists drifts across the campus mingled with shouts of encouragement. Is it Madison Square Garden? No, it's only two of Jaeger's " Boys" -lighting to the finish for a position in Jaeger's "select" mob.
After the Ole Astrologer wipes the blood and dust from his lens he shifts his view to Johnson field just in time to see "Otter" slither for a first down for the Jayvees. "Jim Thorpe" .is seen coaching May on how to w1n "Yankee" style but Ben seems to pre- fer the "Rebel" way. The Ole Astrol- oger wishes to announce a reward provided by "Doc" Magill for anyone who can solve the perplexing and intricate mystery of The Deacon's "masterpiece."
"Sydney" Chiles is seen pr~ctici~g that distinguished stride of h1s, whde Spike, thinking his gait is diminishing in popularity, trains laboriously, per- fecting it further.
The Ole Astrologer sees a group of newsmen hounding Ike-no, it's only " Ace" being swamped by photo- graphers and reporters trying to fin.d out what position he plans to tram for on the All-American team.
