Deor Dr. Borton ond Friends ot V. E. S.:
It seems tho! I om severol yeors behind in my corresponding but this time of the yeor olwoys reminds me of tho! fine old school ond the mony memories I hove very pleosontly brought to mind from time to
time.
In December of lost yeor my sister Molly
come to Okinowo os o Deportment of the Army civilian. She finished her years con- tract ond hos returned to Boltimore alreody. In July of this year my bride to be arrived in Okinawo vio Yokohomo, Jopan and Pusan, Korea. We were morried by the Okinowan civil outhorities in Naha, Okinawo on August 7th and then had o church ceremony on the 23rd of August.
We had planned to be married in the church on the 18th but 11 typhoon nomed "Marge" arrived on the 17th and losted for four doys. That noturolly threw everything into quite 11 stole of confusion. Half of the wedding flowers had orrived from Tokyo the doy before the typhoon but didn't last until the wedding. The others orrived two doys ofter the typhoon but hod been to Siom ond back in 11 cardboord box ond didn't manage too well. We had flowers of o sort. They were Typhoon Lillies-looked lovely. Beverly wore o white gown she had brought with her ond I wore o white uniform. My sister wos the moid of honor, my very good friend Mojor Shannon wos best man ond my execu- tive officer, Col. Clorke gove the bride owoy. We did it up in true military style ond it turned out beoutifully ofter oil the typhoons ond who! hove you.
For o honeymoon we spent fifteen doys in Jopon touring the whole country. Every- thing wos wonderful. After returning to duty I wos ossigned os on ossistont oreo engineer ogoin. Beverly is working for the District ond we hove o little oportment right in comp. I don't believe there ore ony two hoppier peo- ple onywhere on this globe thon we.
All during the Koreon business I hove been very fortunate in thot no officer from the District hos been coiled upon to go. Several volunteered ot the beginning but none hove since then.
Since, in Moy, I will hove been here for two yeors we ore due to go home. However, we both like it very much here ond it gives us o chonce to sove o little for the future so we ore thinking obout extending for ot least six months if we ore oble.
When we get home I om going to moke o very definite effort to get bock to Lynch- burg ond see any ond oil of the old timers.
Pleose give my very best wishes for o Merry Christmos ond Hoppy New Yeor to

Dear Mr. Gonnowoy:
Pleose occept this beloted and smoll con-
tribution to the Alumni fund. I feel those of us who hove been out of school so long should go obove the $10 "minimum" and I firmly intend to do so. Right now, it looks like I will hove to fight Joe Louis so both of us con square ourselves with the tox people. My indebtedness isn't so greot, but it's equolly os hord to meet.
It wos certoinly refreshing to me to hove the brief 'phone conversotion with you lost summer ond I hope we con get together be- fore long. I intended to return to V. E. S. for Alumni Doy, but wos coiled out of town on o story.
The Meteor is most enjoyoble. I wos porticulorly interested in the piece on "The Burial of Latane," November issue I believe. The "Mrs. Willoughby Newton" who reod the buriol service wos my greot-grondmother. In foct, our younger doughier, oge 5, is nomed Willoughby.
Please remember me to Mr. Bonks and onyone else around who moy recall the doys oround 1926 ond before.
Best regords to you. Sincerely.
Jomes Y. "Hume" Newton.
P. S. Be sure ond let me know when you
ore going to be in these ports. J. N.

The purpose of the meeting is to form an organization such as has been formed in other cities. W e hope all Alumni will make an effort to attend the meeting.
There may be some whose ad- dresses we do not have, so will each alumnus mention the meet- ing to any other former V. E. S. student he may see?

I've been meoning to write you foro long time ond send you my dues for the Alumni Associotion.
Certoinly wos good to see your picture on the cover of the Meteor, fronkly you have chonged very little in over twenty-eight yeors. Tho! is right it hos been neorly thirty yeors since I left V. E. S. It honestly doesn't seem possible, but it must be. for here I om neorly fifty.
Sure wos good to see the pictures of some of the fellows I went to school with. From the pictures I believe Braxton hos chonged the
Ieos!. Certoinly would love to see them oil ogoin, but everytime I toke o trip bock there it is in the summer when school is closed.
I think you will be interested to know !hot Dole is with the first Marine Division in Koreo. He hos been over there ten months ond we ore counting the doys until he returns to these shores, which should be by Februory ot the lotest, but of course you never con tell about those things.
He enlisted in the Morines o week ofter the Koreon Wor broke out. He hod o yeor at the University of Nebrosko, ond o yeor ot the Unive•sity of Denver where he wos mojoring in lnsuronce ond he hod o "B" overoge when he left school to enlist. He opporently likes the tough life of the Morines for he soys he is going to stoy in. He is eligible for Morine 0. C. S. ond hopes to go to Officers School when he returns to this country. If he is sent to Quontico, you moy be seeing him one of these doys.
We hove just moved to o new home in Lokewood, Colo. which is o suburb of Denver, being just west of Denver, right ot the foot of the Rockies. actuolly we ore procticolly in the foothills.
Pleose remember me to all my former classmates when you see them. I om a monufocturer's ogent coiling on the drug !rode, ond trovel Colorodo, eostern Wyoming ond southeostern Montono. This keeps me
out obout holf the time which is not too bod, for the older I get the less I like this trovel- ing. When I lived in Lincoln I wos out every week for fourteen yeors, so this seems pretty good. Actuolly it is very pleosont work which I enjoy very much.
Would 11ppreciate hearing from you when you con find the time.
Sincerely.
"Bob" Terry, '23.
P. S. I hove been sending my Meteors to Dole, ond he hos enjoyed them very much.
