Annual Meeting Of Trustees
The Boord of Trustees of Virginia Episcopal School convened in the Headmaster's office at I0:30 A.M. October 24, 1955. Bishop William H. Marmion presided over the meeting and all except two trustees w:;re present.
The Board reviewed and app;oved the financial accounts of last year and the budget for the present year. After considerable deliberation and in view of the increased cost of al- most every item that enters into the operation of the School, the Board directed that the tuition fee be in- creased from $1,200 to $1,350, ef- fective at the beginning of the 1956- 1957 session. It approved th e repairs ond improvements whic h have been made in the last six months and ap- propriated additional fu nds to con- tinue these still further. Before ad- journing at three o'clock, the Board adopted a resolution in memory of Bishop Henry D. Phillips, who was for fifteen years President of the School
and presiding officer of the Board of Trustees.

placed on strict bounds. To break the monotony of this and to give the sb- dents a Hallowe'en celebration, ~Ars. Barton graciously invited the entire student body to a party at the Jet+ Memorial Headmaster's Residence.
At exactly 9:35, all V. E. S. dashed over to the headmaster's house to find gallons of apple cider and thou- sands of cookies and doughnuts awaiting them. Everyone got a gen- erous share of these goodies and a fine time was hod by all.
We all thank Mrs. Barton for a wonderful evening in helping us cele- brate Hallowe'en th is way.
HOMECOMING DANCE
The Virginia Episcopal School Homecoming was high lig hted by a dance in the William King Gymna- sium on Saturday night, November 5. Everything was great from beginning to end. The Hop Committee and Mr. Lunsford did an excellent job of decorating the gym with streamers of pennants in the school colors and crepe paper football jerseys around the wall. The music for the dance was provided by the Vagabonds of Lynchburg.
The dance got underway at 8:30 and things started rolling promptly. [ veryone seemed to have a good time, even "Rico" and his girl. Cool "Rico" ~eemed to be worn out from a busy Saturday.
If anyone heard a popping sound during the dance and is still in the dark, it was only "Toes" Lynn, the
boy with suction cups on his feet and the only man alive who can scale a wall forwards and backwards.
Of course Birdman was there. Duals was there too.
"Better Late Than Never" Bickford
was seen hauling down the V. E. S. road at I:15. How late? He must have gotten stuck.
Gool Grunter was grunting around.
J ust after the intermission, a hor- rible odor was smelled by everyone. "Little Stinky" eeled in.
"Driver" left early.
"Os" and "Judge" followed suit. White didn't get a chance to
dance.
Byrum was there, but it's a wonder

"Bells" was there in person.
"Wild Bill" kept an eye on all his boys.
Several of the alumni attended the dance. All in all, the dance and the weekend were a great success.
