VIRGINIA EPISCOPAL SCHOOL, LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA, MAY, 1964

rm , Drink, Drink . . ."
On Sunday, April the fifth, the V.E.S. choir had its busiest day ever. It was a day that few of the members will forget.
Leaving the school at ten o'clock Sunday morning, the choir went to St. John's Episcopal Church of Lynchburg where, with the support of the rest of the student body, it pro- vided most of the music for the eleven o'clock service. Arriving back at the school, the choir was ready to greet the choir from Stuart Hall which was coming down from Staun- ton, Virginia, for a joint concert
scheduled for that afternoon . As it turned out, the Stuart Hall bus had taken the scenic route and it con- sequently ended up at Charlottesville instead of Lynchburg; but the error in navigation was soon corrected and the delegation was only an hour and a half late. The two choirs practiced together from two-thirty until four- thirty and then gave a joint con- cert before the student body and friends of the school.
The choir's fears that they were not well enough prepared proved to be false, and the many words of praise from the student body were gratifying.
This would have been a full · day for anybody, but the end was yet to come. There was still the service of Evensong a t seven o'clock. Most ex- pected the singing to be poor after a full day of rehearsal and perform- ance, but the singing Sunday night has never been better, thanks in no small part to the congregation and the girls from Stuart Hall who stayed for the service.
When the day was finally over, the members of the choir left the chapel feeling tired but good about what their hours of labor had produced.
