William Hampden Sage and his wife, Evelyn, live at 1108 Koloa Street in Hono- lulu, Hawaii. Bill is a Physician at the Fronk Clinic in Honolulu. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Vir- ginia in 1948. He and Evelyn are parents of two children, William and Anne.
Jacob Jay Vandegrift, Jr., is a Captain in the U.S. Navy and is presently a Com- mander of Submarine Squadron Six. He and his wife, Elizabeth, are completing four continuous years in. Norfolk, but expect to be ordered somewhere this summer Their present address is 7473 North Shore Rd. They hove a son, Jeff, who attended V.E.S., and two daughters, Gretchen and Judy who ore now married to Naval officers. Jake has hod lots of travelling and interesting work in the Navy. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1939 and served on a Battleship, Destroyer and Submarine prior to becoming a prisoner of the Japanese in 1942. He was missing in action for nearly a year and hod his nome on the plaque in the V.E.S. chapel as killed in action until the war was over. He says, "I also hove a tombstone in the family cemetery in Penn- sylvania."
Justin Smith and Dorothy White live on Longleaf Drive in Fayetteville, N. C. They hove a son, Justin, Ill, who graduated from V.E.S. in '62, and three daughters, Cordelia, Margaret and Anne. Justin is President of on Insurance Co., Beard & White in Fay- etteville.
Lawrence Butts Whitehouse, Jr., is Vice- President of Purchasing for the Morton Mfg. Corp. in Lynchburg. Lorry received his B.S. in Chemistry from V.M.I. and took Business Administration at the Babson In- stitute. He and Margaret live at 3611 Manton Drive and have three sons, Law- rence, Ill, Samvil and Ernest.

Glenn Benson Davis, Jr., is General Manager for U.S. Steel International, Ltd. at I00 Church Street in New York City. He and Beatrice live at 43 Carolin Road in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. Glenn received his B.S. degree from the Univer- sity of N. C., where their son, Glenn, Ill, is now a student, having graduated from V.E.S. last June. They hove two daughters, Jean and Judith, and one grandchild.

The Committee on the International Exchange of Persons has recommended him for a Fulbright appoint· ment to Finland for next year. If he re· ceives this appointment, he will be a lee· turer in American History in a Finnish uni· versity. Pat has one daughter, Anne, who graduated from the University of Wiscon· sin lost June, and is now living and worl· ing in Washington, D. C. Pat receives liis mail at the University and lives on Route 3, Godfrey, Ill. He is to be married to De· Lores Williams in March.

Sterling Cotton Mills, Inc., in Franklinton, N. C. John received his A.B. degree in English from U.N.C. in 1939. He and Peggy live at 101 N. Main Street. Their son, Peter Young, Jr. is a student at V.E.S. now and their other two sons, William and John, Jr. are at home.
leon Oettinger, Jr., is a Physician of Pediatrics. He is an Asst. Professor of Clin- ical Pediatrics at the University of Southern California. He has published many articles in medical magazines on behavior and learning problems in children, and on treat- ment of children with seizures. Last year he presented three papers at the meeting of the International Pediatrics Congress in Libson, Portugal, and will give another at a meeting in Mexico City in March. He also expects to give a paper at a Pediatrics meeting in London in August. He is also interested in archeology and Pre-Columbian art. In 1938 he received his B.S. degree in

Patrick Williams Riddleberger received his B.A. degree from V.M.I. and went to graduate school at the University of Cali- fornia in Berkeley where he look a master's degree in 1949 and a Ph.D. in 1953. He then taught at the University of Maryland, until 1960. Since that time he has been on the faculty at Southern Illinois Univer- sity in Alton, Ill. His field of special in- terest is nineteenth century America. He has published articles in several scholarly journals. He teaches courses on the South

Tom received his A.B. degree from U.Va. in 1941 and his M.D. in '44 from the same university. His wife. Isabelle is a social worker and they will be living at 5805 Dorchester, Chicago 37, I. after March I. They have no children. Tom is a devotee of lawn bowling, an an· cient sport that died out in this country with the Revolution but has been revived in Williamsburg and Hot Springs, Yo., Pine· hurst and Hendersonville, N. C. and vari· ous places throughout the U. S.
Max Frederick and Paulyne Jones live at 1500 Greenbriar Rood, Kinston, N. C. They have two sons, Max, Jr., and Jeffrey. Fred has recently been named Kinsler Branch manager for the Imperial Tobacco Company, Ltd. He received his A.B. de· gree from U.N.C. in 1940.
