Tireless Opposition
Football - an atmosphere pervades. The team presses for victory; people on the sidelines are drawn together in its support.
The gut and grind of exercise on a muddy field. A steady thud of cleats. Excited coaches yelling and thinking. All - an open expression of the school's spirit.
The Bishops score as the crowd watches. Seven Hills cheerleaders strain their voices. Everyone is standing, and there is a sudden quiet. An air of expectation as the extra point is called for.
The score: never too far behind, often close, fortunately ahead. Alumni stand among new boys at the ropes for a closer view. Masters discuss the situation, their breath visible in the chill. On the edge of a bleacher a parent sits, eager.
