Bill Deuster is hard at work on an experiment involving the production of silver nitrate in the chemistry lab.
Students carefully check the results of an osmosis experiment in the biology laboratory.
Experiments, Equations Keep Students Occupied
In Science Laboratory
The long hours
of balancing equations, dissecting preserved animals, and experimenting with logarithms
on the slide rule,
resulted in an extremely successful year
for the Science Department.
In biology there were several significant
changes, including a new teacher,
Mr. Jenkins, and
the establishment of an advanced biology course. Mr. Pettus and Mr. Daugherty,
instructors in physics and chemistry, respectively,
also introduced slight alterations
in the curricula so that more emphasis was placed on writing laboratory reports and
obtaining material from scientific publications.
