Dear Editor,
Recently my son and I visited V.E.S. inquiring about h~s
admission. The events that took place that day I'll never forget; ll would be too hard to try.
The minute we arrived in Lynchburg things began to happen. We needed directions to the school so I thought I would inquire at a gas station. The attendant informed us that the school had been destroyed by an earthquake back in 1933. I knew that couldn 't be true so we asked a nearby policeman. He said the school had moved to Charlottesville. After asking directions of five other people, we
finally made it to the campus.
On our way up to the main hall my wife stopped to pet a small
black and white dog. But the dog met her hand with his teeth. She screamed and was laughed at by several students. We went through the preliminary interviews and met the student who gave us a tour of the school. I began to have my doubts when our guide offered us a wad of tobacco. The first place we saw was the study hall. It looked like a nice place for the purpose it served. On the way out my son felt something wet and soggy running down the back of his neck. It was a spitball. I was looking forward to the next stop, the dorms. Everything seemed quiet since the students were in classes. As we entered a room my wife screamed and ran out of the room. There was
a nude picture of Bridget Bardot on the wall. As we entered the hall
bathroom a cloud of smoke poured out and surrounded us. Pushing
our way through the gray smoke we met three students having a mid- morning cigarette.
Being as polite as possible we excused ourselves saying we had to ee some other schools. On the way to the car our guide was a little off
aim and spit some tobacco juice on my wife's dress.
All the way home my wife nagged me about the stain on her dress, my son complained about the dried paper stuck in his hair, and I
and "Miriam's
wished the day had never happened. •••

As varsity coach of the football team here at Ravenscroft, I would like to express my appreciation for the talent that you folks up at V.E.S. have sent us. Our football program has and will make good use of the players you have sent to us. I realize that they have not left under the happiest circumstances, but they should be very happy
here. We are still a little weak at linebacker, so if you have anyone else who needs a new home, just send them along.
THANKFUL COACH
