Here at VES, all students in grades 9-12 are required to participate
in athletics during the fall, winter, and spring terms. This rule has many aspects for the tudent. He can participate in a
be invol ed with a team, and get plenty of exer ise throughout the year. However, I feel that some harm i done to both boys and teams when the unintere ted or unskilled are forced to play a sport.
The alumni, faculty, and most t at VE would like to have
overall ucce in our athletic program, but too often our teams are
plagued by apathy, inexperience, and a lack of talent. Talent is a
commodity that can be recruited and developed. But where does this apathy and inexperience come from? I believe that too many boys are
itting on the ben h, not participating in pra ti es, and are often tu kin a port they do not like. Thi i bad for the team morale and
