athletic teams with uncharacteristic zeal. From sports a student learn hard work and determination which bring about success in many areas. However, VES fails to set up priorities for how the student hould direct his energies. Many VES students are totaUy "u d up" alter thletics and have little or no mental strength to draw upon wh n tudying. Athletics do have a place at VES - distant

VE fail- to emphasize the importance of academic succe s in
high chool. Lo t in the "go team!" spirit, VES is lo ing sight of what a high chool i uppo e to do, - prepar tudents for a college lile that tr acad mic ability rather than athletic prowess.
