History
Arthur Kearns finally realizes that the South didn't win the Civil War after all.
History
Chaired by Douglas Smith, a newcomer this year, the History Department distinguished itself as one the strongest facets of the V.E.S. curriculum. Messrs Smith, Mundy, Peebles, Calvert, McLean, Campbell and Greg- ory teach a combination of American and European History along with Geography and Current Events. In addition such electives as Pre-Civil War History of the South are offered.
The department strives to give students an under- standing of the past and present. Through the study of political, social, philosophical and economic trends, it is hoped that students might better perceive the world of today and tomorrow.
Mr. Mundy takes time to enlighten Mike Toney on the true meaning of democracy.
Mr. Calvert leads his class in a discussion of election year '80.
