In his second year as Headmaster, Mr. Zimmer con- tinues to inject new ideas into VES. Whether giving the campus a new face through remodeling, helping the School meet the Kenan $1,000,000 Challenge Grant, trying to find new activities for the community, upgrad- ing academic standards, or telling jokes after dinner, Mr. "Z" gives VES his all. Ultimately his goal is to provide an atmosphere of caring in which students can grow and feel challenged to go beyond. Mrs. Zimmer is equally busy as she works on the food committee, scur- ries around campus with decorations, or serves as school nurse. Most of all, the Zimmers want students to feel a part of the family; their warmth is contagious.
