1984 Vestige
the yearbook in production
nee again, this year has been a record-setting 0 one for the Vestige. As has been the case in the past five years each year for the annual seems better. 1983-84 saw many changes: we started the year with a new editor who brought many new and fresh ideas (as evidenced by the " new" look of the book), a new publisher that proved to be much more helpful, and a new sense of dedication by the staff. Though small, it pledged what no staff has been able to do in recent years
- meet all its deadlines. Moreover, we succeeded.
As editor, Page Robertson began early drawing up new lay-outs and organizing the yearbook staff. During the fall trimester, the staff concentrated on finishing the spring supplement. Late in the fall, Page, assisted by Blair Glenn, launched the advertising campaign, hoping somehow to beat the records set in previous years by Mike Edwards. Indeed, in the first week they raised more than $1,000 and b y February had surpassed Edwards' record o f 1983 . Meanwhile, in the Vestige room (re-located to the basement of Randolph), the small staff, consisting of Chris jones, John
Byrne, Scott Ruffner, Lee Porter and Marty Hyers worked hard to meet difficult deadlines.
The long hours invested are rarely appreciated by those who have not worked on the staff, but it is hoped that the improvements in design, organization, and overall quality of the book will be noted. In the spring term the seniors yield to the juniors who plan the supplement and begin work on the next year's annual. Page and Blair have passed their challenge on to Scott Ruffner and John Byrne to try and out-do this yearbook.
