Deacon Basketball 90-91 was more than just "playing ball." It represented ranges in height (5'1" to 6'5"), weight (901bs to 2651bs), and nationality (Korea to Spain to US to Philippines). Led by co-captains Brian Bader and Lenny Smith, this diverse group enjoyed each other as they learned the fundamentals of the game and competed with other teams. Of their three wins, the highlight game was the victory over Blue Ridge by the score of 62-27 in which each player scored at least two points. Con- gratulations to this team for their spirit, teamwork and improvement.
JV BASKETBALL
The JV Basketball team was a coach's dream. With Dillon Rose, Edmund Knott, Tom Kelley, Philp Thornton, Ed- die Bell, and Bob Kluttz, we battled every team down. Although we had a 2- 12 record, we lost 10 games by 6 points or less.
The season was punctuated with in- juries: Tom Kelley had his leg oper- ations,1Edmund Knott had his broken nose, Philip Thornton had his fractured knee, and Dillon Rose had his concus- sion. Had we been able to play a full squad, who knows what might have happened?
