crown cheers as awards are handed to deserving members of the Class of
u ginia Episcopal School completed its 92nd commencement exercises, graduating its largest senior class in school history. The ceremony featured I3 alumni whose children graduated in the Class of 2008, a Valedictory speech from Se-in Kim of Seoul, Korea, and Senior Master
Jim Hopkins reading the names of the 85 graduates in his 44th and last commencement as a part of the YES faculty.
After receiving numerous awards, Se-in Kim took the podium to deliver her Valedictory speech. Kim spoke of her transformation as a musician and a person while at YES and of the success that a faithful YES graduate is bound to achieve in the future.
English Department Chair and Senior Master Jim Hopkins stepped forward to read each senior's name as the diplomas were awarded. As emotions of all sorts began to flow, the seniors hurriedly rushed Jett's front steps to snap' the traditional graduation photo. And as tears welled up in the eyes of students, siblings and parents and cigars were lit with great jubilation, each member of the Class of 2008 earned the near-century-old distinction of being called a YES alumnus.
