like this help raise money for

degrees.
Jim Frates
adds this: “
Mur-
ray Buttner
is too modest to
tell you, but he conceived this
whole race that started last
year to raise scholarship funds
for the local community col-
lege. This year they raised over
$35,000, so it is a great success!”

Nick Hourigan
submits happy
news: “My wife, Annie Cooper,
our daughter, Olive, and I wel-
comed a thriving and happy
Nora Grace Hourigan into the
world on May 17. Our family of
now five, including dog Riley,
continues to enjoy our time in
Old England (London), but are
missing family, friends, and fam-
iliar surroundings of the U.S.A.,
especially New England.”

You might have been pleasantly
surprised to see that the fall is-
sue of
Alumni Horae
featured a
photo of married couple
Jessica
Thompson Somol
and
John
Roberts ’89
. It is with deep
regret that I make the following
announcement regarding this
Horae
-recognized marriage:
John Roberts and Jessica
Thompson Somol regretfully
announce the annulment of
their brief marriage. While they
remain the best of friends, both
parties felt the impact of their
union was slightly inconve-
nient to their existing spouses,
Brooke Donahoe Roberts and
Mark Somol (respectively). The
lesson here is: Look out! That
SPS paparazzi will publish just
about anything! Speaking of
paparazzi, I’m happy to gener-
ate a little buzz for
Grinnell
Morris
’s web series,
Married
Without Kids
, on YouTube. All
six episodes can be viewed in
less than a half hour. Plus –
it’s funny. Watch and enjoy a
chance to see your formmate in
action. The link to the web
series is www.youtube.com/
channel/UCgMPj-OOZ5xd-
SE7NNHVCKZw (or search for
the title on youtube). Keep those
updates coming, and we’ll try
not to marry off anyone via the
formnotes again.

Hope all is well with everyone

news:
“I am working for a com-
pany located in Boston’s Fort
Pt. district called Environ-
ments at Work, serving as an
account manager and client
liaison between local architec-
ture firms and their corporate
client base. My three daughters,
Lila (13), Dylan (11), and Elsie (9)
Whitman are keeping me active
with skating, lacrosse, theatre,
and cross country practices and
rehearsals. Lila and I ran our first
10k (Tufts) together this past
fall. Great fun and so blessed!”
Amanda Cramer
sends: “A
big shout-out to all ’89s. The
New Year finds me in a bit of
a limbo – attempting to make
a career change. I will let you
know how it turns out. Assum-
ing I have income and vacation
time available, I would love to
see any/all of you somewhere
westward in 2016.”

writes:
“All
is well in Montana, where I was
busy all summer and fall cutting
ski trails at our backcountry
ski lodge, Downing Mountain
Lodge. With a one-of-a-kind
private/public lands partner-
ship going, we have our hands
full building a new ski area in
Montana’s Bitterroot Moun-
tains. Press release at m.big-
skypress.com/missoula/chang-
ing-face/Content?oid=2586377.
Other than that, I’ll be an emp-
ty-nester with Jenny next fall,
when my younger daughter
heads for university. I’ve loved
raising kids, so it’ll be sad.
Looking forward to a non-
school-based schedule though.”
JohnRoberts
sends this cor-
rection: “The mistaken caption
on our photo in the previous
Horae
drew chuckles from all
implicated, but for the record,
Jessica Thompson Somol ’88
and I are not married to each
other. Both of us are enjoying
our first marriages to Brooke
and Mark, respectively. Now
we have another funny story
to add to a lifelong friendship.
Happy to welcome visitors to
San Francisco, where we’ve
been for nearly 20 years.”
