Banded or White-Backed Garden Spider
Argiope trifasciata

This spider is similar in behavior and size to the argiope or yellow garden spider, but is less often seen. Its abdomen is somewhat pointed and has a well-defined pattern of black, yellow and silver-white stripes. In addition, the orange bands on the legs are more evenly distributed than in the yellow garden spider. The body and legs are covered with fine hairs.
