This plant is found in our wetlands growing in water among the smartweed. The leaves are about 3 inches long and the stems are noticeably red. The 5-petaled flower is an inch or more in diameter with short stamens. Creeping water primrose is found in wet places and is rather uncommon in this part of Tennessee, being found mostly in the west part of the state.
