This plant is typical of fields and waste places and it is found on the periphery of the wetland area. It can be seen blooming throughout much of the United States. It belongs to Compositae (the daisy or aster family) . The large central disk is comparatively large and the petals are very thin. Fleabane gets its name from the belief that the dried flowers would rid a home of fleas.
