This plant is typical of fields and is found on the periphery of the wetland area. It has fine, fern-like, leaves which have a carrot smell when crushed. The flower is a large, flat, white, complex umbel with a small dark area towards the center which looks like an insect. As the flower ages, it curves inwards in a bowl shape. It is an ancestor of the carrot and the taproot can be eaten when cooked.
