My favorite memory from OLPH is growing closer with the kids in my grade at Camp MacLean. It was such a special experience and my friends and I still exchange stories about that weekend to this day!
I wanted to come teach at OLPH because teaching has been a dream of mine since I walked the halls here. The school community is so close knit and unique that I knew it would feel like home!
What remains the same at OLPH? Everything from the songs we sing at church, to the classrooms being taught in, to Mrs. Sible's beautiful voice and the traditions of Roundball and Musicale are the same. Additional- ly, many of the teachers I once had as a student are now my colleagues. And of course, Dr. Mills!
What is different? The junior high uniforms have changed a bit since I went to school here. When I was a stu- dent we wore skirts and we didn't have sweater vests.
I just started reading the book New York by Edward Rutherfurd. There is so much rich history to be learned about our nation's first capital!
As of November 1st, my playlist turns to all Christmas music all the time.
What are your hobbies? I love to practice yoga. To me, it is the best way to restore my mind and body after a
long day.
Something interesting about me is that I grew up with 16 cousins living within a 5 mile radius of me. Most of my cousins attended OLPH with me and some even still go here! Being part of this big family is a huge part of my identity.
This past year, we hosted Career Day for our 8th grade students. Ten alumni returned to share their stories with our students. The morning began with a “What’s My Line” panel, where 2 students had to guess which profession went with the appropriate alum.
Our panelists then headed to tables, where groups of 8th graders spent 10 minutes with each alum exploring and learning about their careers and the path that lead them there. It was a great day that sparked student's interest in a variety of careers and connected them with former students just like them! Our alums left students with three takeaways: ask questions, be open to new opportunities, and be kind to all.
