The Jett Literary Society held its ele,·enth meeting Satur- day night, :March 2d. A program, which was enjoyed by all, consisted of a debate: "Resolved, That airplanes are more destructive than submarines." The affirmative was upheld by Cardwell and Pierce, the negati,·e by Loth and W. G. Christian. The judges-Caskie, S. R. ).IcCulloch, and H . C. Dillard-decided in faYor of the affirmati,·c. There being no further business to come before the society, the meeting adjourned.
The following Saturday, 1\la•·ch Dth, the society again met. Selections were read by P . H. H eydenreich, W. E . .Johnson, and IIinks. Dr. Jett then fa,·ored the society with a short speech. Upon motion, the meeting adjourned.
The week from March 20th to 27th was consumed in those delightful examinations which arc so ,..-elcomed by all and which arc so essential in furnishing the finishing touches either to the nightmare caused by a term of loafing or to the glory acquired by a term of faithful application.
