On April 8th the baseball season \\US opened at Amherst "·ith a one-sided ,·ictory. The whole game was played in a rain which caused frC'q11ent ening. ancl made it impossible for the pitchers to do anything bnt toss the ball oYer. In the first inning we SPnt o,·cr three, and followed with three more in the second, by mixing hard hitting and goo(l base running, together with our opponents' errors. In the fourth eYcr~· man batted and five of them scored. Our finnl tnlly enmc in the fifth. The featnre of the game was the batting of R. Hcydcnreich. who made two uonbles anti two singles in four trips to the plate. Beard was .t\mllC'rst's star. with three hits in as many times up. The gn.me was called at the cud of the fifth on acconnt of the rain.
