There has been a marked improvement in the general srho- lastic nYerage during the lnst few months, which is of great benefit to Y. E. S. in more wnys than one. Congratulations. Not only docs it raise the standard, but it makes school life run more smoothly and
satisfactorily, and has decreased id1ing and mischief. Nearly all the boys are to be congratulated for this, and for the school spirit they are showing by the increased excellence in work. For although many don't sec it as such, this is just as truly school spirit as gh·ing proper support to the athletic teams,
and certainly helps as mnch. A few of the students still are loafing, but with the majority of their fellows as an example it is hoped that e,·cn these will soon begin to study harder. It is useless to name all the advantages wl1ich higher average brings, as any 0110 who thinks at all about it can see them clearly. And not only for your own sakes and the school's,
but also for your parents, who haYc such a deep interest iu you, try to let the improvement continue.
In closing we should like to cnll to your attention again a matter which has been remarked upon a number of times. This is the importance of giving your full
Getting support to each other and living together Together. as a body and not as individuals. There is too mnch self-interest, and not enough of the spirit of comradeship. This is shown even at athletic
games where the rooting has not been of the usual high orde~ during the past few weeks. There is too much a teudency to blame the other fellow without consider'iug his side. This petty selfishness should not go on as it seriously affects the school welfare. So for the good of all, be more thoughtful,
and let's "get together."
