On Saturday, January 18th, Go- ble and four other men from D. M. I. gave V. E. S. her first loss of the current basketball season, 31-26.
The teams were evenly matched and the game was a hard fought affair. The Tigers outplayed their opponents in the first half, largely through Goble, a stellar forward whose passing and shooting were the
best seen on the local court for some time.
V. E. S. came back in the second half outpassing and outshooting D. M. I., but the commanding lead which Danville had amassed was too much for the Garnet courtmen to overcome.
Goble garnered
for the day, ringing them in from impossible angles all over the place. Harris, W., a newcomer, was high point man for V. E.. S. with nine points, while Hobbs trailed him
D. M. I. counted most o:f her points by fast floor work and splen- did passing, coupled with the un- canny shooting of Goble and Jones.
V. E. S. seemed unable to gain through the D. M. I. ajrtight de- fense very often and hence had to be content with snowbirds.
The last part of the game was played in a fast way, Danville fight- ing to hold downJ a determined V. E. S. rally and V. E. S. determined to count. Wilson, C., whipped a snowbird through the air into the ring. Harris, W., contributed :four
points from the middle of the floor (Continued on page 2)

Captain Luck, to nose out their op- ponents by one point in the final score. Harris, C., was the high point man o:f the game, running up a total o:f eight points, while Hobbs ran him a close second with
