In the public speaking contest, E d- ward Martin, for Virginia Episcopal, spoke first on a subject of interna- tional interest "A United States of Europe." This he delivered in a clear voice and without hesitancy. Lewis Bo her then spoke for St. Christo- pher's on a local topic, "The Pollu- tion of Virginia Streams Through Industry." Bosher had a good speech and spoke clearly though with quite a bit of hesitation in parts. However, his speech had a slight edge m1d he took the judges' decision.

Fork Union Wins in Drizzle as Kinzer Is Heavy Hitter
The Virginia Episcopal School baseball team met a severe defeat at the hands of the Fork Union Military Academy, Tuesday, April 21, on Johnson Athletic Field, 14-1. The
visitors garnered fifteen hits to five for the V. E. S. team. A steady drizzle prevailed throughout the aft- ernoon, hindering the progress of the game and causing frequent er-
rors to be made.
The heavy hitter of the day was
Kinzer, shortstop for the Cadets, who got four hits out of six trips to the plate. Alexander, Humphrie and Purvis each collected two hits out of five, four and six tries, respectively. Harris, Harrison, Clemens, Rust and Ashton each polled out safe hits for
ihe Bishop team.
Cadets Open Fast
'rhe Cadets started off with :five runs in the first inning and contin- ued to increase their lead with a cer-
tain amount of ease. The lone Bishop tally came in the eighth. Clemens knocked a triple to lead off for V. E. S. and scored on the next play
on Rust's double to center field. Following the F. U. M. A. runs of the first irn1ing, Harris, hurling for V. E. S., held them to a lone h.it
until the fourth, when a hitting spree netted the visitors five more runs. Ashton relieved Harris in the fifth and held the Cadets to four runs through the remainder of the game,
