STRONG RIVERMONT BEATS JUNIORS 18-6
JoHNSON FIELD, October 31.- Rivermont's Fisher Flyers in the 120-pound league, invaded the Ath-
letic Field this afternoon and found a stronger Bishop squad than the
one they had previot~sly downed this season 19-0. The Flyers trounced the Baby Bishops 18 to 6.
Dave Wingfield booted the open- ing kickoff to the V. E. S. 35-yard line. A n exchange of punts gave the Bishops the ball on their 23.
A f t e r three unsuccessful line
plunges Buster Nelson barely got
off a very high kick which was
downed on the V. E. S. 39. River-
mont picked up 22 yards on six
plays to put the ball on the Bishop
17-yard stripe, but they were forced
to give it up on downs. Still the
Fisher Flyers were determined to score.
Immediately after the start of the second quarter, Rivermont carried the ball over for the first touch- down. Dave Wingfield crashed through center for the score, but he failed the conversion when Bus-
ter Nelson blocked his pass. The
half ended with the score reading
Rivermont 6, Virginia Episcopal School 0.
The Flyers scored again in the third quarter with Teddy Macheras heading a relentless drive 47 yards
for the touchdown. Again the con- version was no good, as Bruno Tucker blocked an attempted pass.
Now it was V. E. S.' turn to start moving; this they did. After re- ceiving Wingfield's kickoff on their own 35, the Bishops made two long runs by Nelson and a pass from
him to Gus Hathaway. This enabled the home team to get the ball to the Rivermont two, where Charlie Carrington scored off tackle for the first and only touchdown that the Bishops made. Tucker's line smash

previously 33-0. In the waning mo- ments of play, the White Rock team
scored their only touchdown on a long pass, taking advantage of the darkness which was falling rapidly.
In the first quarter the Bishops got off to a good start by scoring
after a steady drive, which netted 68 yards. Gray Carrington got off two long gains of 23 and 26 yards, and "Hoot" Gibson bucked over for the score from the two-yard line. A pass for the extra point from
Carrington to Billy Joyner fell in- complete and the score stood at V. E. S. 6, White Rock 0.
