Greatest concern-It is doubtful if he has one.
"Bev," an old boy this year, is an earner of two football letters and also was a Counselor until, some three weeks after school opened last fall, he joined the ancient and hon- orable Association of Busted Coun- selors, the A. B. C.
If there's anything going on, Bev is usually in the middle of it, pushing with all he's got.

James, called ''Gooey," by his friends, came to V. E. S. last year. He is truly one of the few intellec- tuals in the school in spite of the
fact that first impressions of him might lead one to think that he is lazv.
i'his year he made his letter as manager of the football team, and he is a member of the V-Club. He was recently elected manager of the 194--l- track team.
"Gooey" recently passed the ;\rmy V-12 examination and he ex- pects to be called sometime this spring.
Curtis Perkins
Ambition m li k'-Owning a brewery.
Curtis, the victim of circum- stances, was born a Tarheel, but he is a good boy. He has been a shin- ing light around here at all and sun- dry social functions ; also he has really tried for two years at foot- ball, almost achieving a letter. The faculty thought him qualified to be a Counselor, and everyone agrees that he has made a very re- spectable success of it.
Curtis is as friendly as a cocker spaniel, and is certainly a lot of fun. In any group he would be an asset except maybe in a group which is dieting. He is a smooth worker when it comes to the opposite sex, and he's a guy almost anyone would like to call a friend.

Three days later "Uncle Phil," as he is affectionately called, was well on the road to recovery. The student body sent him a large as- sortment of flowers.
During l~Ir. Dawson's illness. Dr. Barton has been taking care of fin- ancial matters very capably, how- ever with difficulty, because of the many other matters he must see to.
