nation once again.
The '44 version of Garnet and
U'hite basketeers has yet to be at full strength against outside oppo- sition and was far from its peak in the U-'oodberry game.
A t least until midseason the op- position will be an unknown quan- tity. Two of our conference adver- saries have fallen in defeat- St. Christopher's to Thomas Jefferson by one point and Woodberry to St. Christopher's.
Here again competition is strong for the various positions. A t the center post Chergey and Page are battling it out. Massie and Arthur are the guards, while at the forward position Betty, Trevathan, and Gower are competing. The games are marked by Massie's body blocks and Trevathan's ball handling.
Neither team has time for enough practice, but they have shown good team work.

his direction, Mr. Short has assumed the title of coach. V. E. S. has entered two teams in the Lynchburg City League, one made up of boys fi £teen years old and under, the other made up of boys of sixteen and seventeen.
O n both teams competition is strong for all positions, but the usual starters on the seventeen and under team are as follows: Parrot and Hedrick at the guards; Hines and Bell, A., at the forwards; and \Vhite, J., at the center position. Parrott is the high scorer, scoring eighteen points in a recent game. Although winning only one out of three, the team has looked good, losing some heart-breakers.
