The Wrong Attitude
I·.rcr since \'. E. S. was founded
thtrc has been had blood between town boys and \'. E. S. boys, the traditional feud of "town and gown" which has appeared in his- tory and story ever since boarding schools were instituted. But this is the twentieth century, and we do not see why an efTort can not be made to patch up the unreasonable ancl unreasoning hard feeling. In-
di1idually we get along all right with town hoys: collectively, we fight. \\'hi' should this continue? Tf Rus- ·>~a imd the Cnited States can work to~dher as United l\'ations, surely tl1e \'irginia Episcopal School and E. C. Glass lligh School should be
ahle to do the same.
Or do we fight just for the fun of
fighting? With so much fighting for keeps in the world. such a motive seems rather childish.
Let's call ofT the feud.
